Holy Smokes!

We're now at the end of Stage 5.

Words can't really describe how agonizingly brutal an event the Cape Epic is!! These athletes are pushing themselves way way way beyond their limits.

Jeff and John thought they'd be in the saddle about 5 hours a day. It's been more like 8. And the route, designed by a guy they call Dr Evil, takes them up and down the steepest mountain ranges, through miles of sand, across slippery shale and broken rocks that's described as rock surfing, long distances spent in some of the hottest temperatures this part of the Cape has seen in years. (Thanks global warming!)...

Anyway, wish I could say more, but there's about to be one of many rolling black outs and internet will be down momentarily.

Jeff is surviving.

I'm a bit over camping but have a great team at the water points and we're having a stellar time.

Ciao for now.
